Kolkata में जन्मीं Konkona की माँ का नाम Aparna Sen है और वे एक अभिनेत्री होने के साथ साथ फिल्म डायरेक्टर भी हैं। Konkona के पिता का नाम Mukul Sharma है और वे एक Science Writer और Journalist हैं। कोंकणा ने अपनी शुरूआती पढ़ाई ‘Modern High School for Girls’ से की, इसके बाद उन्होंने ‘St Stephen’s College, Delhi’ में दाखिला लिया।
Konkona ने अपने एक्टिंग करियर की शुरुआत 1983 में Bengali Film “Indira” से की। इस फिल्म में वे Child Artist के तौर पर नजर आयीं थीं। 2007 में उन्होंने Hindi Film “Traffic Signal” में ‘Noori’ के तौर पर अभिनय किया। 2009 में वे Coming of Age Film “Wake Up Sid” में ‘Aisha Banerjee’ के तौर पर भी नजर आ चुकी हैं। इस फिल्म में बॉलीवुड अभिनेता रनबीर कपूर के साथ मुख्य भूमिका में नजर आयीं थीं।
